An Angel!

video

So forget that last post. I'm sick of it, it was no good to start, and like my good old 3D design professor Robert Reedy used to say, once you start with crap, no matter how long you work on it, you're still gonna have crap. It's a rough paraphrase but you get the point. Speaking of getting points, hopefully this NEW video has it's points more readily accessible to the viewer. Still working on it!

I think it'd help if he really felt like he was talking to someone. Making eye contact to emphasize parts of the dialogue, and generally being more free with the movement of his spine and the shape of the body.

But, working with what you've got here:

I'm not too fond of the swinging of the feet. Everything else is so still and solemn, the feet just feel a little too... footloose. :)

Switch the pose up at "beautiful" to accent it, and let him lean back and recline some for "she was like an angel." Think about ways you might be able to work a reversal in there on the spine. Maybe let him take a good, full body breath between the two sentences.

Generally I think it just needs more content. That doesn't necessarily mean broad movements or a lot of very different poses, but you have to find a way to reflect the internal thoughts of the guy. You've gotta figure out why someone would be just as interested in your animation as they would in the original shot with Tom Hanks. Youtube gives 'em easy access to both, after all.

I was browsing animations on youtube when I found one that I think illustrates what I'm trying to say.

It's similar to yours in that he's relatively still for the most part. It's really just two general poses, yet there are subtle shifts that convey a lot.
